Bringing Clear Vision to Remote Communities: AMS and Metropolitan Health’s Impactful Collaboration

Air Mercy Service (AMS) is a non-profit organisation that bridges the gap in healthcare access in underserved areas of the country. By utilising aviation and other resources, they deliver medical care, supplies and education to communities that are often overlooked.

Metropolitan Health, a subsidiary of Momentum Health, supported AMS in a campaign to take vital eye care services, such as vision tests and spectacles, to people in need in remote areas of the country, which will significantly improve their abilities to work, learn, and generally live a better life.

Over a period of two months, 371 people – of which 327 were prescribed spectacles and 62 were referred for further care – were assisted at the Charles Johnson Memorial Hospital, EG Usher Memorial Hospital and Dundee Hospital in rural KwaZulu-Natal.
